Our first lady of fall is none other than Shririnatra, a newcomer into the vintage community who has. This young lady has a delicate sense of style along with an Audrey-like natural grace. She has been exploring Europe lately and The Pinup Abroad was curious to hear some of her experience and collect some tips along the way.
Hi Shirinatra, could you introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Shirin and I live in Germany in a city called Chemnitz, which is in the east of my country. I study Media of Management at university since this year and before that I made a Work and Travel in Ireland for over 5 months with my boyfriend. Before my time in Ireland I have already been in love with the Vintage Fashion but I was too shy to actually wear it. The traveling opened my eyes and I realized how important it is to not hide yourself and now a few months later I’m finally the Vintage Girl I always wanted to be!
You’re a Old Hollywood movie enthusiast, which travel classic would you recommend ?
My absolutely favorite travel classic is “Roman Holiday” with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck from the year 1953. It’s a sweet romantic comedy and it allows us to see the beautiful sights of Rome!
Your instagram account has grown really fast on social media lately and manage to get collaborations. How do you feel towards this rapid access to the vintage community internet fame & what is your position towards social media in general ?
I’m honestly completely overwhelmed and it’s still hard to realize what is going on. It has always been a dream of mine to have a little Vintage Community and share my passion with them. So of course I’m also very happy about my current situation. All in all I think social media gives us great opportunities to meet new people and talk about the things we love or that are important. But still, we shouldn’t forget that social media is not always real life.
You have been exploring Europe lately, what has been your most memorable trips so far?
That’s hard to decide. The first thing that has come to my mind was my first trip to Rome in 2015. I was completely blown away and I ultimately fell in love! But I think the most exciting trip was my Work & Travel in Ireland. I saw many different places in a short amount of time, met new people from all around the world and learned so many things. It was a time I will never forget!
If a fairy godmother would come to you one day and grant you the wish to have the trip of your dreams what would it look like?
I would love to make a Roadtrip through the US with a cool vintage camper van. That would be awesome!
Let’s talk about style now! Here at Pinup Abroad we love to exchange tips and tricks on how to be a perfect vintage wanderer. How would you describe your style while travelling?
Simple but chic. I think traveling is also about comfort and relaxing so I don’t wear a lot of accessories, heavy makeup or complicated hairstyles. A cute dress or a top and skirt combined with a nice belt and an easy updo – that’s it!
What are your favourite items to bring along in your suitcase ? (clothes, accessories and shoes)
My accessories essentials would be pearl earrings, a little scarf, a belt, sunglasses, a hat and a bag which is big enough to cary at least a small bottle of water. Since I walk a lot while traveling I always have a pair of white sneakers with me because they’re comfortable and still look sporty vintage. And if I want to look a bit more chic I also always have some black ballerinas in my suit case.
Talking about brands, which ones do you find the most travel friendly ?
I only traveled once in my Vintage Style but LindyBop, Hell Bunny and TopVintage were the brands I had with me and I was not disappointed.
Moving on packing tips ! How do you manage to bring a capsule wardrobe ? What are your best packing tips ?
I always pack tops and skirts that are easy to combine in many different ways. Otherwise I don’t have any great packing tips because I’m one of those people who always have too much in their suit case.
Last but not least, could you give us a quick tour of what’s hot to do for a Pin Up gal in your hometown ?
If you want some great food with a 50’s atmosphere go visit Mr. Meyers Diner and for some beautiful architecture you should go and see our theatre square and the Kaßberg, a city district with beautiful art noveau buildings.
